More Big Bear Info!

Big Bear Lake, Juniper Point

We've received a few emails already about which airport is closest and where exactly the venue is located so you can find hotels/lodging nearby.   Good questions all...so here is some more information that we hope will be helpful.

Let's start with the airport!  The closest airports to Big Bear are the Ontario International Airport [ONT] and the San Bernadino International Airport [SBD]. Looks like both are about 1.5 hours away by car. Ontario might take you an hour and 45.

The venue is called Jack Rabbit Ranch and it is actually about 15 minutes east of Big Bear Lake, where most of the lodging can be found.   Jack Rabbit Ranch will be the site for the wedding reception and possibly the ceremony and will also be where we and much of our family and wedding party will be staying.

If you are doing searches for lodging in the area we recommend focusing on Big Bear Lake.  On the south side of the lake is where most of the small inns, hotels, motels, lodges, rentals, and general social activities are located.  On the north side of the lake you'll find a few really nice bed and breakfasts as well as walking paths and a generally more tranquil vibe.  There's a little mini-town called Fawnskin on the northside of the lake that is also worth looking into for lodging.  We've stayed at several hotels in Big Bear ourselves over the last few months, and we've included some recommendations on the map in the right-hand column of the blog.  We will continue to add to the map as we get closer.

Also, we encourage you to check out Destination Big Bear Properties while you're searching for lodging.   They are generously offering a 15% discount to anybody coming for our wedding.  We have a small hotel called the Edgewater on hold through them from the 24th-28th so if you're interested in one of those rooms let us know.  (You can find those rooms on the Destination Big Bear site labeled as Edgewater #1, Edgewater #2, etc.)
